​Dr. Anas Hamad

IMG-20250325-WA0006Dr. Anas is currently the Director of Pharmacy Department at Qatar's National Center for Cancer Care & Research and Head of Medication Safety & Quality Center at Hamad Medical Corporation's Pharmacy Executive Office. He holds a position at Qatar University as a Clinical Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy & Practice. In addition, he is chairing the Standing Committee on Medication Services at Qatar Red Crescent Society. He is also the Vice President & Director of ISPOR Qatar Chapter. 

Dr. Anas finished his BSc in Pharmacy at the University of Jordan. He obtained MSc in Clinical Pharmacy, International Practice & Policy from the University of London and PhD in Clinical Practice & Medication Use from King's College London. He acquired an Executive Diploma in Health Services Management from GSM London. He completed the Executive Leaders Program with Qatar Leadership Centre.  

Dr. Anas is an active researcher with several publications and conference proceedings. He is an Editorial Board Member at International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Review Editor at Frontiers in Oncology. He regularly speaks at local and international conferences. He is a member of both HMC's and QU's Institutional Review Boards in addition to the MOPH National Clinical Research Review Committee. Moreover, he is a member of various committees/boards focusing on pharmacy practice, medication use, cancer care, research, safety & quality, medical affairs, healthcare education, health economics, governmental tenders, clinical transformation, and health insurance. 



Professor Aukje Mantel-Teeuwisse



Aukje%20PicShe is professor of Pharmacy and Global Health. She obtained her PharmD in 1998 at Utrecht University. After a few months working as a community pharmacist in Delft (Apotheek Tanthof), she started her PhD studies at the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Clinical Pharmacology of Utrecht University (promotores: prof. dr. A. de Boer and prof. dr. A.J. Porsius). After completion of her thesis in 2004 she started to work as an assistant professor and later as associate professor (July 2016-January 2018) at the same Division. In the period 2005-2010 she worked part-time at the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board as a liaison between UU and the MEB. 


At present, she is also the Scientific Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre of Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation. The Centre works closely together with WHO HQ, WHO Collaborating Centres and a wide range of other public stakeholders in the field of pharmaceutical policies and access to medicines. Her research interests include global health, pharmaceutical policy analysis, drug regulatory science, and variation in medicines use across countries. She published almost 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals on these topics.

Aukje has been appointed Director of the Undergraduate School of Science at Utrecht University since 1 September 2023. Before that, she served as the Director of the School of Pharmacy for over 9 years. In her educational management capacity she is member of a number of (international) committees and working groups. She is involved in the bachelor and master Pharmacy programmes as well as in the master Drug Innovation program.

Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh 

Sir%20AzizHe is the Nuffield Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences and Head of Department at the University of Oxford. Since joining the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in 2024, Professor Sheikh has been committed to advancing individual and population health through high-quality primary care delivery worldwide. Prior to his appointment at Oxford, he held the Chair of Primary Care Research and Development at the University of Edinburgh, where he also served as Director of the Usher Institute and Dean of Data on the University's Executive. With a career dedicated to enhancing global health systems, Professor Sheikh's work has focused on advancing primary care through innovative research in respiratory health. His leadership roles in transformative initiatives, including the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research, the NIHR RESPIRE Global Respiratory Health Unit, the EAVE II platform, and the HDR UK BREATHE Hub, have significantly contributed to the prevention and management of common conditions and the improvement of population health globally. 




Beyond his research, Professor Sheikh is a pioneer in health data science and policy, leveraging the UK's exceptional health data infrastructure to inform healthcare strategies both locally and globally. His expertise has been sought by major governmental and intergovernmental organizations, including the World Bank, World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Innovation Summit for Health. Professor Sheikh's contributions to medicine and healthcare have been widely recognized. He was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2014 for his services to medicine and healthcare and was knighted in 2022 for his pivotal contributions to COVID-19 research and policy.


Professor Debra Rowett 

Prof%20Debra%20PicDebra Rowett is Professor and Discipline Leader Pharmacy and Professorial Lead Interprofessional Education and Learning Clinical and Health Sciences, University of South Australia. Debra is also Director of the Drug and Therapeutics Information Service (DATIS), Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.

Debra is the immediate past President of the Council of Pharmacy Schools Australia and New Zealand.

Debra has worked extensively in the area of quality use of medicines, interprofessional practice, health policy and workforce development in Australia and internationally.

Debra has been at the forefront of academic detailing training and implementation in Australia and her research focuses on actively delivering services which support medicines and therapeutics decision making to attain spread, impact and sustainability of Quality Use of Medicines principles.

Debra is a member of the national Drug Utilisation Sub-Committee of the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC). In 2002 Debra was awarded the SHPA's Australian Clinical Pharmacy Award, and in 2016, Debra received the prestigious SHPA Fred J Boyd award and is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy.

Debra is a clinician, educator and researcher.




Professor Khuloud Al-Jamal 



IMG_0732%20FINAL%20HALF%20-%20emailShe is the Head of Pharmacology & Pharmacy and a Global STEM Professor at The Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, LKS Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. She holds a concurrent appointment as a Chair of Drug Delivery & Nanomedicine, Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King's College London. She was The Head of Medicines Development, Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King's College London (2020-2024). She completed her PhD at the Centre for Drug Delivery Research and postdoctoral training at the Nanomedicine Lab, The School of Pharmacy, University of London (2000-2010). She undertook her pre-registration pharmacy training at University College London Hospitals. She started her academic career as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King's College London in 2011 and was promoted to a Full Professor in 2016.

Her research focusses on developing nanomedicines to improve treatment of neurological diseases and cancer.  She has published over 170 papers in ISI-refereed international journals receiving > 10,000 citations (H index = 55, i10-index 125, accessed 10/24) and was one of the World's Top 2% researchers (2022-24) according to analysis conducted by Stanford University. She has filed 5 patent applications in UK and Europe. By 2024, She has trained >150 researchers since.

She is a recipient of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain Science Medal, becoming the third female to receive this award in a 43-year-history, Maplethorpe Fellowship for the promotion of pharmaceutical education and excellence in research (University of London), BBSRC New Investigator Award, the Controlled Release Society Nanomedicine and Nanoscale Delivery Young Investigator Award. She is a three-time winner of the Wellcome Trust Science Image Awards. She is an editorial board member for several journals such as Journal of Controlled Release, Biomaterials Science, Scientific Reports, MedBioMed and Journal of Drug Targeting. She is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry and The Royal Pharmaceutical Society. 


Dr. Klara Tisocki 

KlaraShe is trained as a clinical pharmacologist and has over 27 years of working experience in improving pharmaceutical systems in low- and middle-income countries. She graduated in Budapest Hungary as a pharmacist and received her Master's in Clinical Pharmacology and PhD. In the United Kingdom. She has worked with countries to improve access to essential medicines across Africa, South East Asia and Asia Pacific regions with a number of development agencies and global health organizations including the Global Fund for HIV, tb and malaria. She contributed to work in countries on pharmaceutical policy development and implementation in the areas of medicines selection, access strategies, affordability and pricing, medicines regulation and quality assurance, procurement and supply chain management, appropriate use of medicines, including antimicrobial stewardship to mitigate impact of antimicrobial resistance. Since 2012, Klara has led WHO's work on access to medicines as the Regional Medicines Adviser in both the WHO Western Pacific and WHO South East Asia regional offices. Her journey led her to the WHO headquarters Medicines and Health product Division in 2020, where she now leads the Health Technology Access Management team in the Department of Innovation and Emerging Technologies.
