Mr Jassim Mohd Lari

Speaker

Position: Head of the Marine Wildlife Section

Affiliation: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change

I began my academic journey with an Associate Degree in Science from the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), where I graduated with the highest distinction. Driven by a passion for the natural sciences, I continued my studies at Qatar University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in Marine Science, graduating with high distinction. During my undergraduate studies, I conducted a senior research project titled "Mesozooplankton Biomass Distribution and Valorization in Qatar’s Pelagic Ecosystem," which deepened my interest in marine ecological processes.

Currently, I am completing my Master's degree in Environmental Science at Qatar University. My thesis focuses on "Spatiotemporal Distribution of Coral Reef Diversity and Community Structure in Offshore Waters of Qatar," contributing to the growing body of research supporting national marine biodiversity conservation.

Professionally, I serve as Head of the Marine Wildlife Section at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, where I lead national programs focused on the conservation of marine megafauna. I also represent Qatar as the national focal point to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in major international conferences such as CBD COP15, COP16, and the United Nations Ocean Conference.
