Dr. Imen Saadaoui is a Research Associate Professor at the Centre for Sustainable Development, Qatar University, where she leads multiple research and development projects in Microbial Biotechnology. Holding a PhD in Biological Sciences, she integrates fundamental research with applied solutions to address challenges in food security, biodiversity conservation, and environmental monitoring. Her work focuses on harnessing the potential of microalgae and other microorganisms to develop innovative applications in food/feed industries, agriculture, and health. Dr. Saadaoui has led algal biotechnology initiatives for the production of high-value compounds, including omega-3 fatty acids, bioactive molecules, and natural fertilizers, while also advancing marine biodiversity assessments through cutting-edge molecular tools such as environmental DNA (eDNA). She has published more than 60 articles in high-impact international journals. In addition to her research, Dr. Saadaoui is dedicated to education, teaching undergraduate courses and supervising undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students, thereby fostering the next generation of scientists and professionals.
