Mr Muhammad Riaz Ejaz


Position: Research Assistant and PhD candidate 

Affiliation: Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Qatar University

Mr Muhammad Ejaz is a Research Assistant and PhD candidate in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Qatar University under supervision of Prof. Samir Jaoua. Prior to joining Qatar University, he gained extensive research experience at Quaid-i-Azam University and the National Agricultural Research Center in Pakistan, where he contributed to plant breeding, genetics, and stress physiology studies. 
His current work aims to harness native microbial resources from Qatar’s soils to develop, bioactive compounds, biofertilizers and biocontrol solutions for sustainable dryland farming.
His research focuses on soil metagenomics, microbial ecology, climate modelling, and plant–microbe interactions in arid environments, with an emphasis on sustainable agriculture and biotechnology. He has published widely on topics including climate change impacts on plant pathogens, the efficacy of Bacillus thuringiensis as a biopesticide and microbial diversity in arid soils.
