Qatar University reserves the right to allocate suitable housing for faculty members and their equivalents or to grant them a housing allowance. The type of housing provided depends on the availability of residential units, taking into account the job grade and the number of family members residing with the employee in Qatar (spouse and children only). Data on the presence of family members must be updated every six months.
The university provides furnished or unfurnished housing for employees on external contracts or pays them a housing allowance according to their job grade if a housing unit is not available or if the beneficiary rejects the options offered by the University Staff Housing Department. Employees on local contracts are only granted a housing allowance according to their job grade.
New faculty members and their equivalents are temporarily housed in hospitality housing upon arrival until residence procedures for their family members are completed, after which permanent housing is allocated. The beneficiary is obliged to move to the permanent housing within two weeks from the date of receiving the furniture allowance. If this period is exceeded, the matter is referred to the University Housing Executive Committee to take the appropriate decision.
Qatar University may grant housing to its non-academic married employees of grade seven and above, provided their families have valid residence permits and are present in the country, subject to the availability of units. Housing is also allocated to unmarried non-academic employees of grade seven and above through the Government Housing and Buildings Affairs, according to available units. A condition for obtaining government housing is that the applicant must be under the sponsorship of Qatar University.
